We picked our next song to play as Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana and listened to it to try and work out what we could do.

Cameron is going to play the guitar on this song.

It took us a long time to come to the conclusion of the song we were going to learn.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO:
I am going to learn the drum part of the song by ear and also research and ask my drum teacher how to play it. Jack can almost play the song but needs to practice along with cameron who cannot play the song yet.

I practiced the song on the drums and tried to learn it by ear whilst Jack and Cameron played the song on guitar and detuned their guitar lower.

Cameron could almost play the beginning.

Jack and I tried to play the song and jack sped up in the difficult parts.

WHAT WE DID:
Jack, Cameron and I practiced Iron Man by Black Sabbath.
WHAT WENT WELL:
I was able to play along to Jack when he played Iron Man.
WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL:
We were going to play come as you are but we changed our mind, it has taken a while to find another song. We would like to play but we are trying to get at least our 2 song finished before the end of the term, so we will have at least 5 songs completed before year 11. I think we have not settled because it is only are second song and it is difficult for us as a group to get into the swing of things. I still haven't got my drum kit but when I have it sorted out it will be easier for me to focus.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO:
We should all practice at home and listen to our songs so they are stuck in our heads this will help us to get into the zone.
KIT:
I used the acoustic kit which helped me to practice properly but it still not anything compared to having my own kit, I will organise myself with a kit very soon.

WHAT WE DID:
We all practiced Iron Man together.
WHAT WENT WELL:
We could all play our bits of the song, I need to work on the drums because I haven't listened to the second part of the song concentrating on the drums. It is more complex than the first half so it will be more challenging which could mean it might take longer to finish the song but I will try to learn it efficiently so we can move onto a third song.
WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL:
We weren't able to practice the whole song because I didn't know what to do. Jack always sped up when changing to the next part but I stayed at the same speed so we ended up out of time. Next time jack can try it solo without me playing because I could be throwing him off with the drums.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO:
Practice without each other to learn our parts.
KIT:
I used the acoustic kit which helped me learn my part because it is easier to use for me.

We played Iron Man well and planned another song Mac Demarco 'Freakin Out The Neighbourhood'

We played in time, I got practice in too, I needed a bit of warmup time since I hadn't played for two weeks.

Sir wasn't in so there was a supply, it was a bit chaotic as a lot of them were messing around but I managed to work well in the midst despite the lack of focus many individual presented.

We need to follow through on our song plans, it is easier said than done but I believe that we will manage to get all our songs done by the end of the year.

We practiced song 2 and recorded the practice, this is another recording to put in the book. As we need 2 more by the end of the year.

I was on task all lesson. This allowed me to take full advantage of it.

The hi hat broke after i recorded it. Luckily we recorded before so i had something to show for it.

WHAT WE DID:
We practiced all our songs and they are sounding a lot better than before, i think as i'm practicing at home it is really having an impact on our performances. They sound a lot more put together and complete.
WHAT WENT WELL:
We had the full hour in the hexagon to practice.

We couldn't focus as well because of the fact that we had exams that whole week and beyond. This made it hard to make worthwhile progress.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO:
We need to improve our songs timing and perfect them as we have many that we can play but they are not robust enough to perform at their current state, this means we will have to work very hard and have a lot of self discipline to achieve our 15 mins. I know that it is possible and I know that we have what it takes!

WHAT WE DID:
Jack was not in so Cameron and I went to a practice room with an electric kit and played a few of our songs without guitar. I think it helped us to improve timing as jack is usually good with timing.
WHAT WENT WELL:
I also discussed our solo performances and songs we are performing so we had an idea of what to expect, we have come to a decision that we will practice our solo songs at home and only use the rehearsals as band practice which I think is a more productive and efficient way of doing things.
WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL:
Since Jack wasn't in we couldn't perform together and get better as a whole but I think it is important to improve ourselves because that is what forms the band.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO:
We need to carry on learning at home and practicing in the time we have. We need to use our time together wisely.

I used the electric kit which worked okay but is quite cramped and limits my ability.

WHAT WE DID:
We practiced our songs together in the main room but then Louis came and said it was his go, so we had to go because he got angry and it could've been dangerous. As the last week he hit another student and was sanctioned for it. We then spent half an hour doing pre production meeting which ended up helping us decide on songs and how we will work practicing at home.
WHAT WENT WELL:
We were able to be undisturbed and not distracted before we had to go and then it turned out okay when we did pre production.
WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL:
We had to leave early because of louis.

We need to use our lessons productively.

Jack was not in so Cameron and I did a practice performance on our own, we performed chamber of reflection by mac demarco. We learnt that last year and might include it in our final performance. I also gave feedback to other performers.

WHAT WE DID:
We have spent time practicing californiacation and finishing the solo part, we have stayed after school to practice other songs together as well. In lessons we have spent some time on the computers to do our blogs as we can practice our own parts at home on our own instruments. We have been using lessons to put together what we have learnt at home recently.
You forgot to add the part where we could not rehearse as you were refusing to play the drums and throwing your drumsticks around like a little blonde baby!
